Police to Host Drop In Surgeries for Ludlow Residents

Ludlow’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is inviting residents to take part in a new series of community drop-in sessions this autumn giving locals a chance to speak directly with officers about any concerns or ideas to improve safety in the town.

The first session, held recently at Ludlow Library, saw residents raise a number of issues including anti-social behaviour and nuisance driving around residential areas and the town centre. Officers say they were encouraged by the turnout and are keen to continue building stronger connections with the community.

The open surgeries are designed to make the police more accessible to the public and to ensure that residents’ voices help shape local policing priorities. Officers say the sessions will cover a wide range of topics from road safety and vandalism to neighbourhood disputes and rural crime.

🗓 Upcoming sessions:

  • Friday, November 14 at 2:30pm Tesco Ludlow
  • Friday, November 21, 11am to 12:30pm Ludlow Library

A member of the Safer Neighbourhood Team said the events are about listening first and acting together.

“We’re here to listen and help,” they said. “Your feedback helps us focus on what really matters in our community. Whether it’s anti-social behaviour, speeding, or anything else, this is your opportunity to come and speak to us directly.”

The SNT hopes the sessions will encourage more people to report issues early and feel confident about engaging with local police. Officers will also be sharing updates on ongoing work in the town including targeted patrols, community reassurance visits, and collaborative projects with Ludlow Town Council.

Residents attending can also find out how to sign up for Neighbourhood Matters, a free messaging service that keeps locals updated on police activity, crime prevention tips, and safety advice in their area.

The team says everyone is welcome whether you have a specific problem to discuss or simply want to meet the officers who help keep Ludlow safe.

“It’s about being visible, approachable, and available,” the spokesperson added. “We’re proud to serve this community and want to work alongside residents to make Ludlow an even better place to live.”

📍 Why It Matters

The initiative follows ongoing calls from local residents for more visible policing in the town centre, especially following reports of anti-social behaviour in recent months. Police hope these open forums will strengthen trust and ensure issues are tackled in partnership with the community.

Locals are encouraged to drop in, have a chat, and raise any concerns whether it’s about traffic, safety, or general community wellbeing. No booking is required.
