Popular Ludlow restaurant CSONS is set to expand its footprint once again this time crossing the county border into Herefordshire.
The family-run business, already well known for its cafés in Ludlow and Shrewsbury, will take over a new rooftop café overlooking the River Wye at Hereford’s Castle Green Pavilion. The restored landmark is expected to open to the public in September.
CSONS, run by brothers Reuben, Adam, Ben, and Josh Crouch, has long been celebrated for its focus on local ingredients, sustainability, and creative dishes. The family says their shared passion for food began in childhood, when their father’s work took them around the world and introduced them to a wide range of cuisines.
In Ludlow, their riverside café beside the River Teme has become a firm local favourite, offering relaxed dining with views of Ludlow Castle. The brothers also operate SourCed, a popular pizza spot in Quality Square, known for its emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients and friendly atmosphere.
At the new Hereford venue, CSONS will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with teas, coffees, and cakes, continuing their trademark mix of local produce and casual dining.
The Friends of Castle Green Community Interest Company, which has led the Pavilion’s multi-year restoration, said they were delighted to have CSONS on board.
“We’ve worked diligently to find a café operator who complements the building and its setting,” the group said. “CSONS’ values and passion for food make them the perfect fit.”
The newly reopened Castle Green Pavilion will officially welcome visitors on 21 September, featuring two restored rooms The River Room and The Artists Room which will be available for hire and community use.
