Ludlow Road Closures for Christmas Lights Installation

Several road closures across Ludlow’s town centre will be closed later this year to allow the town’s popular Christmas Lights event to take place safely.

Shropshire Council has announced that temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced on Saturday, November 29, as part of the preparations and celebrations for the annual switch on.

According to the council, the closure will affect Bull Ring, King Street, High Street, Castle Street, Castle Square and Broad Street. These key town centre routes will be closed to vehicles for the duration of the event.

In addition to the road closures, Castle Street car park will also be closed on the day. A one-way order suspension will be in effect, allowing two-way traffic during the event to help manage movement around the surrounding areas.

The road closures will be in place from 1pm until 6pm, giving organisers time to prepare and ensuring public safety during the festivities. Once the event concludes, all affected roads and car parks are expected to reopen as normal.

The Christmas Lights switch-on is one of Ludlow’s most anticipated annual occasions, drawing residents and visitors into the town to enjoy the start of the festive season. The event traditionally features community activities, live entertainment, and a showcase of the town’s seasonal decorations.

Shropshire Council’s notice confirms the measures are part of a temporary traffic regulation order, introduced to facilitate the smooth running of the event while minimising disruption.

Residents and motorists are advised to plan ahead and avoid the town centre during the closure period where possible. Access to surrounding areas will still be available via alternative routes, but travel times may be slightly longer than usual.

Further details on parking and event arrangements are expected to be released closer to the date by Ludlow Town Council and Shropshire Council through their official channels.
